OPTIMIZE YOUR BLOG

I know how labour-intensive blogs can be, which is why it is my most sought-after service. The benefits of blogging will always outweigh the time commitment. A few posts a week or month will drive traffic to your website, convert leads into sales, increase rankings on search engines, and as a bonus, you can recycle the content on your socials.

Research

Do your keyword research before you start typing. If you have selected a valuable topic, you are probably including those keywords in your copy already. Google Adwords Keyword Tool is my favourite resource for finding the most efficient keywords for optimizing your blog.

Make note of your primary (the main keyword relevant to your topic) and secondary keywords (terms related to the primary keyword).

Keywords

You have your keywords and you are ready to optimize your blog.

You will want your primary keyword to appear in your heading, unique URL, first paragraph (the first sentence is even better), the meta description (aka preview text), and image alternative text. Adding in your secondary keywords throughout the body of your blog will help boost your blog's searchability.

Hot Tip: The ideal keyword density is around 1-2%. This means the primary keyword should appear in your copy about one to two times per 100 words.

Optimize Images

Images aren’t just for making your blog pretty. Include keywords in the file name and alt text field with a brief, keyword-rich description of the image.

Anchor Links

Add links to relevant blog posts, products, or pages already published on your website. This is a great way to convert readers into customers.

Readability

Don’t stuff your blog with keywords as it decreases the readability of your post. You always want to stylize your post with subheadings, bullets, call-to-actions, and brief paragraphs to optimize your blog.

Cross-Promote

You have put all this work into writing and creating valuable blog posts so why not promote the material on your socials, email marketing, and other marketing channels?
